Wojcik is a husband and wife folk duo from Austin, TX currently living in Pittsburgh, PA.
Mathew plays guitar, harmonica, and sings, and Virginia Marceau sings harmonies. They have played in various legendary Austin venues such as Stubb’s BBQ, Hole in the Wall, The Sahara Lounge, and The Carousel Lounge. Their debut EP titled “Winter Winds” was released in Summer 2018 and garnered a small amount of critical praise. The Deli Austin described it as “packed with wistfulness and a naked vulnerability that transfixes" and called Wojcik ‘Ambitious…a natural storyteller [with] a meandering forlorn tone”.
Wojcik will follow up their debut with a second EP titled “Breakfast of Adderall” influenced by early folk music’s use of borrowed chord progressions and melodies, cover songs, and nonfiction storytelling. It was recorded in a style inspired by Springsteen’s Nebraska utilizing a 4-track cassette recorder, a couple of SM57s, and a delay unit to produce a sound full of lonesome desperation and a raw, vulnerable tone.
